PLAN A TRIP HOW TO GET TO FUKUOKA PREFECTURE

Fukuoka Prefecture is accessible through three main transportation hubs: Fukuoka International Airport (Fukuoka City), Kitakyushu Airport (Kitakyushu City) or JR Hakata Station (Fukuoka City). The fastest way to reach Fukuoka Prefecture from Tokyo is by airplane. Tokyo-Fukuoka is one of the world’s busiest air routes, with dozens of daily flights to choose from, operated by ANA, JAL, Starflyer, Skymark, Peach and Jetstar Japan. The flight lasts for less than 2 hours. International flights from Seoul, Taipei, Hongkong and Singapore are also available. Fukuoka Airport is a short ride from the city’s central railway station, Hakata Station. Those traveling by shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo and Osaka will enter the prefecture through Hakata Station via the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen. For budget travelers, Fukuoka is also accessible by night bus, which leaves Tokyo from the Shinjuku Bus Terminal. It takes approximately 14 hours. Those who love traveling on water should opt for a ferry journey — daily ferry rides are available between Tokyo’s Tokyo Ferry Terminal and Kitakyushu’s Shin-Moji Port via Ocean Tokyu Ferry.
