Miyaura Pit (Miyaura Coal Memorial Park)

Miyaura Coal Memorial Park spreads on the site of the former Miyaura Pit (a part of the former Miike Coal Mine) which was closed in 1888 (Meiji 21). Starting with the actual large inclined shaft and platforms for man cars, a tall chimney (a government-designated cultural asset) which also appears in the lyrics of Tanko-bushi (a song of coal mining) remains there.
