Chikugo River Hot Springs (Chikugo River Hot Spring Inn Association)
The Chikugogawa Onsen (Chikugo River Hot Springs) were opened in 1955. Colorless and clear, these simple springs contain trace amounts of radium, and almost all of the surrounding inns have pleasure boats. Once cormorant fishing season has opened (May 20), guests can use the pleasure boats to watch expert fishers use the ancient fishing technique! From July 21 to 27, visitors can watch this traditional fishing for free, and the Chikugo River Fireworks Display (which always attracts a huge audience) is held the following evening.

*About the Springs: Simple radium (trace amounts) springs; effective in treating chronic rheumatism, neuralgia, gout, wounds, arteriosclerosis, and chronic skin diseases.
