Ariake Sea Firework Festival
The Ariake Sea Firework Festival is held every August on the patch of reclaimed land in the Hashimoto area along the Ariake Sea. With the sea as a backdrop and a spectaular fireworks display that includes the over 1,000m (3,280 feet) long “Niagra” hanging fireworks recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records, the entire area buzzes with around 100 thousand people every year!
There is plenty to enjoy before the main attraction, including musical and other events starting at noon, a local goods market, and more. Spectators may also want to reserve seating in the “Barbeque Corner” where they can savor great barbeque and gorgeous fireworks!
As of 2009, a shuttle bus ran from Nishitetsu “Yanagawa” station exclusively on the day of the festival, so check it out before you go!
