Men’s Festival at Mt. Hiko

The Men’s Festival at Mt. Hiko takes place in November every year and features the autumun leaves in Fukakura Nature Park, which is called the “secret parlor at Mt. Hiko” and is equipped with a roughly 1-kilometer walking trail. Many events take place on the day of the festival, including a tug of war game using a sacred straw rope, the dispersing of rice cakes, a bingo game, and a parade of a portable shrine!
There are also unique rocks on either side of Fukakura Canyon’s valley, one called the “Male Rock” (which sits between the mountains) and the other the “Female Rock”. The sight of these two rocks connected to each other with a sacred straw rope is quite scenic.
