Etsu is a kind of anchovies. In Japan, it only lives in the Ariake sea. Etsu goes up the Chikugo river from the Ariake sea to spawn from May to July. This is the best season for Etsu fishing. At Etsu Matsuri, deep-fried Etsu and Etsu sushi are sold, so you can try its good fatty taste. Catfish burger and snack of local shops are also sold. Some other events are held around the venue and you can try ”Somen Nagashi (sliding noodles)”for free.
