Takatoyama in Wakamatsu ward is known as one of the famous hydrangea viewing spots in the prefecture. The sight of the 65,400 colorful hydrangea plants, of which there are roughly 100 kinds, is breathtakingly beautiful! In the mid-June season, every year the ”Wakamatsu Hydrangea Festival” is held. Various goods and foods are sold at Takatoyama Park and at the foot of Wakamatsu shopping district. There are also many events such as a flea market are held. Takatoyama has an altitude of 124m and where there is an observation platform from which you can see a wonderful view of Kitakyushu City and as far off as Moji, Shimonoseki, and Hibikinada. It is also famous as a spectacular spot accredited as a night view of Japan.
