Kiyomizudera Temple’s Sea of Clouds

Kiyomizu Temple, which is said to have been built by the monk Gyoki during the Tenpyo era (729 – 748), is a historical temple where ”Juichinmen Kannon Bosatsu Zazo” statue of an eleven headed kannon, a cultural property designated by the prefecture, is preserved within the main hall. Because it is on a hill with an altitude of 300 m, it is also known as a scenic point where you can see Kitakyushu far from Miyawaka City. In the morning after a rainy day, there are times when you can expect a mysterious, beautiful sea of clouds.
