Locally Produced Fruits
Fukuoka Prefecture is an important grower of seasonal fruits including mikan oranges, persimmons, pears, grapes, kiwi, peaches, figs and plums. Fruits exclusive to Fukuoka, such as the Hakata Amaou strawberry, Toyomitsu Hime figs and Amaui kiwi have their own diversity in juiciness and sweetness depending on when they are cultivated. Harvesting season varies but you can find seasonal fruits at local supermarkets as well as many fruit-derived products such as juices and jellies using Fukuoka-grown produce every month of the year. Local orchards and farms also offer seasonal fruit-picking programs.
