A 15-minute bus ride after a quick ferry trip ride takes you from Fukuoka City to Nokonoshima Island Park, a vast green space and theme park perfect for those hankering for some outdoor activities. The park is most famous for its fields of blossoming flowers, which burst with color throughout most of the year. Find about 500,000 canola flowers in the spring, sunflowers in the summer and cosmos in the fall. But there are plenty of other things to do on good-weather days: wander around a mini zoo, sign up for one of the pottery workshops or try your hand at walking on stilts.
